Warming Up!

When your muscles are cold, they cannot use the oxygen that is passing through the blood.  The oxygen cannot detach itself from it's hemoglobin unless the muscle is warm.  If you jump full speed into your exercise session, you are basically exercising anaerobically (without oxygen) for the first few minutes until your muscles warm up enough to utilize that oxygen.  But when you warm up first your muscles are able to utilize that fat slowly at first, and more as your muscles gradually become warm.  By warming up your muscles are able to utilize oxygen right away because you stay aerobic (with oxygen).  So when you warm up you burn more fat than you would if you didn't warm up!
