Is the Grass Greener?

My neighbor’s grass is greener than mine! My friends’ children are more polite than mine. A co-workers’ husband is more romantic than mine. A soccer mom acquaintance has a much more attractive body than mine!

Fill in the blank – there is always someone with a better job, house, spouse, mother-in-law, garden, body, or brain than mine. Why do I make myself crazy comparing myself to the rest of the world?

Why should I care about my grass? I love sitting on my porch in the evenings and smelling the honeysuckle vine on my fence.

They may lack manners at times, but I appreciate my kids’ sense of humor.

So he doesn’t send flowers often; I know my husband cares deeply about the same issues I do, and he rotates my tires and changes the oil in the car.

I found out the soccer mom with the attractive body has been plagued with headaches for a year.

Stepping back to gain perspective can lead to increasing contentment in my own life. Who cares if the grass is greener! I’ll probably have lovely grass when my kids are grown and gone, and I’ll wish for someone to trample it down.
