Editor's Note: Even though Fall has passed (at the time of our December issue), we didn't want to overlook this little gem!
* * *
Soggy, soppy, drizzly day
Diamond drops of water studding
Like jewels clinging to bare branches
As the downpour descends
Yellow/green willows
Dangle gracefully
Water laden fir boughs gently sway
In the misty breeze
A gurgling trickle chuckles, cascading
Ever downward
Giggling on its merry descent
Red/brown/yellow/gold potpourri
Carelessly strewn, carpeting the yard
A hapless leaf, caught by a current of air
Zig zags down to join the rest
Perky ferns earnestly reach upward to embrace
The wind and rain
And a wealth of glorious gold
Displays its autumny splendor
A crimson beauty across the way
Proudly extends
Radiant ruby leaves
Supported by her charcoal/dove grey wood
My little potted lavender tosses her head
Steadily resisting- pushing back
The chilly winds of fall...
As the lily next to her quivers nervously
While Old Glory steadily broadcasts her faithfulness
Unfurling and folding her stars and stripes
Silently, steadily
Blowing and waving in the wind
This is the world from my window today
I bow my head and give thanks

"I wanted to somehow dedicate this poem to President and Mrs. Bush.
It's still raining here in Seattle! I am in awe at what God is beginning to do in our nation through this administration and always hold up the president and his wife and staff in prayer. Blessings to you this holiday season!"
Sincerely,
