SUCH AS I HAVE

As Peter and John walked down the street
They saw a man who had lame feet.
From the day of his birth, we are told,
He sat at the gate and begged for his gold.
As Peter looked upon his face
He praised God for his wonderful grace.
For his daily bread the lame man sought;
But what Peter had could not be bought.
"Give unto me," the lame man said
"For I am hungry and have no bread."
Peter fastened his eyes upon the man
As he reached down and took his hand.
"Look upon me, and upon John,
For gold and silver haver I none.
But such as I have I give unto you
In the name of Jesus who died for you.
Rise up and walk and praise His name,
For guiltless He died and took your blame."
Then in front of all in the temple street,
The man arose and stood on his feet.
He danced and jumped and cried and ran,
And praised God that He cared for man.
His crooked feet had been made straight.
He no longer needed to sit at the gate.
The
greatest treasure that man can hold
Is not silver and neither gold.
It's a gift of God, who paid the price.
He sent His son, who gave his life.
These riches last through eternity...
There for the asking for you and me.
As Peter said to the man that day,
I say to you as I humbly pray.
"Material things, I have not one;
But praise God's name, I know His Son."
These loving words I heard Him say,
"Come unto me, be mine this day."
He gave me life and love so sweet
As He did the lame man who sat on the street.
The greatest riches in life, I say
Are not the ones that fade away.
Gold and silver have I none,
But praise God's name, I know His Son.
