KY Hot Browns

This is a classic Kentucky dish that I learned how to make while living there several years ago, it is very rich!

Ingredients:

4 slices of toast

Sliced Ham and Turkey Breast

8 Strips of bacon, fried crisp

1/4 - 1/2 c. diced onions

2 T. flour

1/4 c. American cheese

1 c. cream

Dash nutmeg, white pepper

Parmesan cheese

 

Directions:

Fry bacon and drain on paper towels.  Place toast on baking pan.  Melt cheese and cream together over medium heat, add spices.  Sauté onions in 1-2 tsp. left over bacon drippings.  Add flour to onions and stir until thick.  Add onions to cheese mixture.  Layer toast with a thin slice of ham and turkey, cheese sauce, bacon strips and then parmesan cheese. Broil until hot and brown, about 5 minutes.
