Southern Living in Virginia
Thank you ladies, we are truly honored to receive this award!!
You may have noticed a southern touch to this website, especially the classic southern recipes that I continue to add as I find the time, or maybe you are from the SOUTH yourself and have just popped in for a visit, for whatever reason you are here...

~ WELCOME TO OUR FRONT PORCH! ~
Come on in and pull up a chair. Can I get you some southern sweet tea and a slice of homemade pecan pie? Hope you can stay for awhile, we love having company!!

And for those of you who would like to know a little more about your editor, here goes...
Besides being a very busy writer, web designer, editor, and stay at home mom of 4 - I am also...
Proud to be an American,
and A SOUTHERN WOMAN!
I have a pretty tough time answering that simple little question, "Where are you from?" But maybe this will help...
SOUTH FLORIDA (Born and raised, 15 yrs)
GEORGIA (8 yrs - where God was keeping my future hubby to be!)
KENTUCKY (8 yrs - We had our first 2 children and made some wonderful new, life-long, friends.)
TENNESSEE (2 yrs - I was 6 months pregnant with 3rd child when we moved there, heart-breaking to leave our new friends again.)
ALABAMA (2 yrs - Spent both summers at the Gulf Shores beach, almost every weekend!)
NORTH CAROLINA (Just 3 months - I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with our 4th child when we moved to NC, and the baby was 2 wks old when we found out we were being transferred again! Our new Sunday school class thanked us for "passing through."
VIRGINIA... (2 yrs and hoping to stay for a looooong time!)
Every where we've lived has been wonderful, but as you can imagine, we still haven't finished unpacking from the last two moves!
Still want to know more? Well, let's see. I'm also...
A non-denominational Christian (though I keep ending up in Southern Baptist churches for some reason), who loves Jesus and has been waiting (sometimes a bit impatiently) for his return, actually, for most of my life!
A wife of 16 years, to Wayne (who's family is entirely from the Southern haven of Alabama ;o) - mine is mostly from Florida). We've been through a lot of good times and bad, like most people have, but Jesus is still the glue that holds us together.
Currently, a WORK-at-home mom of 4, (Rachel age 2, David age 6, Joshua age 8, and Christine "Niki" age 11). I have been at home with our children since I was pregnant with the first one in 1990. We figured if I was going to stay home full-time with one child, we might as well fill the house! ;o)
And your biggest surprise yet might be this... I'm an only child! Another reasoning for the house full of kids, and why I'm always hinting to my friends (even strangers, if the subject comes up) to have more than one if possible! Although you may not always get along with your siblings, what a blessing they are.
Since we've moved to Virginia and out into the country (a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway and on TOP of a mountain!), we've had some of the most INTERESTING experiences...
Part 1 - We've Seen Some Strange Things Since We Moved Out into the CountryPart 2 - The Unexpected Visitor - This one took place in NC
Part 3 - Finding God, Even in the Basement!
Part 4 - There's a Cow... in My Back Yard!
Part 5 - Trespassers Will Be Shot, and More Family Fun
To be continued...
