Titus Women
Are You A Whole Hearted Partner?
by Frances
Hughes
Right away you ask what does this mean? I
suppose you could apply it to most any kind of a partnership. However, my
focus is in the marriage commitment area. When two people fall in love and
decide to become one in marriage as the Lord has planned it, there must be a
serious devotion involved. To love, honor and obey with a
completeness with God as the Head of it. This marriage I am referring by
some would be noted as "The Perfect One." Many times you will
find these in a lifetime. But more often than not, many marriages are just
so so and others fail. I feel anytime that God is involved should give the
partners a good one. Each partner must be led by the Holy Spirit in their
involvement as to how they relate to each other.
Gen. 6: 6-8
"God was grieved that He had made man on earth, and His heart was filled
with pain. So the Lord said, 'I will wipe mankind, whom I have
created, from the face of the earth-men and animals, and creatures that move
along the ground, and birds of the air-for I am grieved that I have made them.'
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord."
Gen. 6: 9 The Bible says Noah "walked with God." It
doesn't mention any talking that might have occurred. If God did the
talking, then it is certain Noah listened. I feel perhaps it was more of
fellowship thing.
God said to Noah that He was going to put an end to all the people. That
He was going to destroy all of them and the earth. He began to instruct
Noah on how to make an ark for him and his family's safety. God then
proceeded to tell Noah how he was to fill the ark with two of every kind of
living creatures, male and female. Also food for them all and his family.
Noah did everything as the Lord commanded him.
In the midst of all this account of what Noah was to do, I am wondering about
his wife. Not much is said about her, not even her name is mentioned.
Being a woman I am curious as to whether she approved of what Noah was doing and
supported his devotion to this massive construction he was involved in. I wonder
if she nagged at him for all the time he was spending on it instead of being
with her. These kinds of things happen in a marriage. Maybe when he
explained to her what it was all about and how God was going to destroy the
earth she decided it would be a good thing to be in this project with her husband
so she would be saved from death. We are not told anything about her in
this area.
Today it is easy to lose your perspectives. Are you married to a man you
think is overzealous for the Lord? He may be a giant of the faith like
Noah! You must decide whether you will just go along with him, then you
must choose how involved you will allow yourself to become. In my opinion
it would probably be best to stay by his side and help whenever you can. This
could be a wonderful adventure for both of you! I pray that in your own
life you will make the right choices to learn more about God and His ways and
how you can please Him.
Father, please help us to learn more about you and at the same time about
ourselves. Open our hearts to the understanding necessary to have the
wisdom to make the right choices needed everyday and draw us to your side in the
days ahead to remain always in your will! For those of you who are
married, help each partner to be the helpmate and "Whole Hearted
Partner" that the Lord intended in the beginning when He created Adam and
Eve. The world would be such a better place if we all could just learn to
be respectful of one another in all the ways that would tend to edify each
other. Thank you Father, for all the many ways your love and mercy is
manifested in our lives each day and the wonderful fact that you never change,
you are the same yesterday and forever. In the glorious name of Jesus, I
pray. Amen.
