I Am Comforted
Copyright 2001 by Louise Norman

If you are still hurting from the recent attacks on our country, or from another tragedy, here are some good reasons for us, as Christians, to be comforted:

I AM COMFORTED:

1.) Because I have God's Word. He has "exalted his word above all his name" and I can trust every promise He makes. He has proven Himself throughout the ages and will continue to do so.

2.) Because I know where I will be the second I die. The physical "sting" of death comes to all, but the fear of death itself need never touch me.

3.) Because I am depending on the only One who has the power over death, the only one who was able to resurrect himself and who came back to life. Because He lives, I will live again also.

4.) Because I don't have to be "good enough" to go to heaven. I want to live a life worthy of a Christian, but I am thankful my salvation doesn't depend on my good works because I'd never make it. Only Jesus was perfect because he was God in human form and only God himself could pay the penalty for sin.

5.) Finally, I am comforted because the things I don't  have the answers to, I don't need to have answers to. I know I can trust the One who does have the answers.  Someday He will answer every question and I will be satisfied with every one of them. God will "wipe away every tear" and will judge every evil and evil-doer and forever banish them from His (and my) presence.

"(God) comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." 2 Cor. 1:4

FARTHER ALONG

Tempted and tried, we're oft made to wonder,
Why it should be thus all the day long,
While there are others living about us,
Never molested, though in the wrong.

Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why,
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.
